HHS to use findIT
International fulfilment services leader HHS Trading is to use the findIT API from helpIT systems for comprehensive data cleansing of its own and third-party databases. HHS is to use findIT for deduplication of more than 6.5 million records across databases held at its call centre and warehouse and by partners around the world including Publishers Clearing House and Mirror Group.
findIT is an independent component that can be incorporated into any system. It uses helpIT’s patented phonetics-based ‘fuzzy-matching’ technology, which compares records based on how words sound rather than their spelling or the fields they appear in. It highlights the maximum potentially duplicated records to ensure HHS doesn’t mail the same person more than once or uses misspelled names and addresses.
In addition, findIT allows HHS to format names and personalise mailings by individual rather than just surname. The company is also considering adding its new findIT deduplication operations as an additional chargeable service to its partners and clients.
"Not only does helpIT’s findIT make HHS appear more professional to its customers and prospects, it also gives us an opportunity to deliver a further value-added service," says HHS systems analyst Andrew Davies. "Further, findIT delivers the most advanced functionality and discovers the most duplications of all the solutions we trialled."
"With databases of the magnitude of HHS’s that are constantly updated, data-cleansing is not a one-off ‘spring-cleaning’ task," says helpIT MD Chris Cuffe. "findIT is the most cost-effective means of maintaining a database free from duplicate records to save mailing costs and provide an efficient service to customers and partners alike."
